6-week course

Throughout this 6-week course, participants will explore the fundamentals of capturing life on paper as well the essentials of shape, value and colour whilst learning to capture likeness with portraiture techniques using traditional and innovative methods.
Basic Drawing Supplies:
Sketchbook: A4 size or larger, 100gsm or heavier (for sketches, studies, and planning).
Pencils: A variety of graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B) for sketching and shading.

Ruler
Charcoal
Markers
Painting Supplies
Acrylic or Oil Paints
Brushes:
- A selection of round brushes (sizes 2, 4, 8) for detail work and broader strokes.
- A flat brush (size 1/2 inch or larger) for larger areas and backgrounds.
Palette: A flat surface (e.g., a plastic or wooden palette) for mixing paints.
Canvas, mounting card, or a Block of Canvas Paper: A3 or A4 size canvas boards or canvas paper, depending on preference.
Palette Knife: For mixing paint and applying texture (optional but useful).
Masking Tape
Additional Essentials:
Water Container (for Acrylics): A jar or cup for rinsing brushes.
2. Oil Medium (for Oils): Linseed oil or other preferred medium for mixing and thinning paints.
3. Paper Towels or Rags: For blotting and cleaning brushes.
5. Apron or Old Clothing: To protect clothes from paint stains.
